Frozen II : Following His Voice, Breaking Generational Curses, and Becoming an Intercessor

I sat in the theatre with my eight children watching Frozen II, eyes glued to the screen, heart lurching in the way it does when the Lord is highlighting something to me. This is what it means to be an intercessor.

Frozen II

In so many ways, Elsa’s quest in Frozen II mirrors what we are doing on the Hedge Evening Watch. There is a river that holds answers because it flows from the very throne of God. (Revelation 22:1) There is a voice that calls to us, wooing us deeper and further. It’s not a siren’s call; It’s the voice of our Shepherd. He bids us to follow Him into the unknown, to step beyond what is safe and small. He pulls at our heartstrings, saying “Come with Me.”

I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you,
instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life.
I will advise you along the way
and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.
So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn
when I take you where you’ve not been before.
Don’t make me tug you and pull you along.
Just come with me!” Psalm 32:9 TPT

Deep calls unto deep.

The whole earth groans (air, fire, earth, water – by the way, the #4 stands for creation, while the #5 stands for grace), waiting for the sons of God to take their rightful place. (Romans 8:22) Waiting for us to rise up and exert the authority that we have been given from our Father. Waiting for us to step out beyond what is safe into our destiny.

When we stop resisting and respond with willingness, He leads us to the river that never runs dry.

He tells us things. He shows us things.

There are violations in our family lines, trespasses that have brought curses climbing about our family tree like poison ivy. We don’t know what they are, where they are, until He shines His light and shows us.

And then we can take our place as intercessors. We stand in this gap between wrongs done and a holy God. We pray. We travail. We use our God given authority to tear down what has been built in dishonor.

Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To root out and to pull down,
To destroy and to throw down,
To build and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:9-10

The rooting out, pulling down, destroying and throwing down comes first. It is tearing down the damn, no matter the personal cost. It is making a noise in the Spirit that declares His purposes and moves things into action.

Frozen II

This is what is means to be an intercessor.

And if, in the story of Frozen II, you see a picture of Jesus, that is because He is the Great Intercessor.

This is what we do, evening after evening, in our HEW months. We don’t just talk to God; We listen to Him. We quiet ourselves and hear His voice, His call. And we follow. We tear down what needs to be torn down, doing the next right thing for the sake of our children and future generations. We dissipate the fog of confusion and despair by co-laboring with our Heavenly Father. The captives are set free. Destinies of generations are shifted as we cry out in the night.  How powerful is that?
